Painting that lasts – the right system for the substrate
Short answer: We paint plaster and masonry with a strong focus on preparation, material compatibility and long-term durability—whether the building is modern or older. On mineral substrates (e.g., lime-based plaster/mortar), the paint system matters even more because the wrong choice can lead to peeling and moisture-related issues over time.
We recommend a system based on the substrate, exposure and existing layers—not a one-size-fits-all product.
Preparation drives the result
Good painting starts with good preparation. We inspect the surface, remove loose material, repair where needed and make sure the substrate is ready before paint is applied.
If plaster has cracks, debonding or other damage (often driven by moisture/frost), we address that first so paint is not just covering a deeper issue.
Lime paint, silicate paint or another system?
The right paint depends on the substrate and how the facade needs to perform. On mineral surfaces, silicate or lime-based systems are often a better fit than dense coatings.
We use proven products and recommend compatible systems—when appropriate we may suggest mineral silicate paints (such as Keim), but always based on your substrate.
The right paint is half the job – we can source the correct products
To get a technically correct result, we prefer to be involved in the paint system selection. We often source the right paint and system for your painter—and for some projects we can also carry out the painting ourselves as part of the scope.
If you need coordination with a painter, we can help align system choice and color with the underlying plaster/masonry for a durable finish.
When the substrate is sensitive (older buildings, basements, heritage sites—and modern too)
Some facades and walls require extra material know-how: older renders, basement walls, natural stone foundations or heritage environments—but modern masonry can also have conditions that affect paint choice.
We adapt the method so paint, plaster and masonry work together over time, taking moisture behavior and movement into account.
When painting is combined with masonry/plaster work
Painting is often best planned together with plastering or masonry (and sometimes lime-based systems). We coordinate the full sequence so each step is done in the right order with compatible materials.
This improves finish quality and reduces the risk of rework.
How the process works
We start with a free site visit to assess substrate and scope. Then you get a clear quote or estimate.
Once approved, we execute carefully with ongoing communication until completion.
